Once-upon-a-time, in a small village, there lived a poor farmer named John. John had a small piece of land where he grew his crops and raised his livestock. Despite working hard day and night, he struggled to make-ends-meet.
One day, as John was working in his field, he stumbled upon a small pouch. Inside the pouch was a handful of glittering diamonds. John couldn't believe his luck. He had never seen so much wealth in his life.
John decided to sell the diamonds and use the money to improve his living conditions. He went to the nearby town to sell them, but nobody wanted to buy them. John was heartbroken. He didn't know what to do.
Just then, a stranger approached him and asked him why he looked so sad. John told the stranger about his predicament. The stranger asked to see the diamonds and upon seeing them, offered to buy them for a handsome-price.
John couldn't believe his luck. He sold the diamonds to the stranger and returned home with a heavy-heart. He felt guilty about selling something that didn't belong to him. He couldn't sleep that night, thinking-about what he had done.
The next morning, the stranger returned and handed John the pouch of diamonds. He told John that he was a wealthy merchant and had lost the pouch while travelling through the village. He was impressed with John's honesty and offered him a job in his company.
John was overjoyed. He had learned a valuable lesson about honesty and integrity. From that day on, he worked hard and became a successful businessman. He never forgot the stranger who had shown him the importance of being honest, and he lived the-rest-of his life as an honest and upright man.
